Should Slifer the Sky Dragon Be Legal?

We all know Yugi’s trusty egyptian god, Slifer, but it gets a lot of controversy. So I’m going to compare whether Slifer should be legal, although I’m going to try to not bias your opinion.

This is the already Japanese produced legal version, with the third and final Kani custom art. But do you think this is too broken of an ability?

You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card (you cannot Set this card). The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated. When this card is Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. If this card is Special Summoned: Send it to the Graveyard during the End Phase. This card gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each card in your hand. When your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster(s) in face-up Attack Position: That monster loses 2000 ATK, and if its ATK becomes 0 by this card’s effect, destroy that monster.

This is what the english card will read, as it is what the translated AND sorted text reads on the Japanese card. So is this really a good decision to make this legal? Or is it too broken for tournaments? Discuss in the comments. I can’t wait to join in!

I think it should be legal since Obelisk is legal.

Obelisk and Ra both have Legal versions, so naturally Slifer should too. Now whether he should be on the restricted list or not is another question. Now a certain site allows you to make your own decks and challenge other people. After using Slifer in duel, the community has come to these conclusions.

    1) “When this card is Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated.” This means after the Main phase when this card is summoned, it’s open season.

2)”When your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster(s) in face-up Attack Position: That monster loses 2000 ATK, and if its ATK becomes 0 by this card’s effect, destroy that monster.” Play defensively until you can magic/trap destroy or summon something strong enough so that the -2000 attack doesn’t make enough difference(highly unlikely).

3)”This card gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each card in your hand.” Any less than that and he/she/whatever wouldn’t be worth playing. especially when there is no special summons, except for the grave to field effect, and three tributes are needed.

    4) You need 3-4 cards to make Slifer’s summon complete Mausoleum of the Emperor, spell economics(for no cost summon), dark simorgh which stops the opponent from setting any type of cards, the forth optional card would be Hardened Armed Dragon(for complete effect immunity)

In conclusion, no it’s not broken, it still needs strategy to use perfectly.
