The Winged Dragon of Ra: Reviews and where to look

March 14, 2012 1 comment

3.14.12 Card Review. Please like always, look at the new contest and announcements. Also, there is no EPIC MATCHUP this month because of a few problems. Enjoy!

Ra is THE best card in Yu-Gi-Oh, and no one argues. With loads of power, and an amazing strength, and towering attack, today I’m reviewing The Winged Dragon of RA.

Look:

TheWingedDragonofRa-ORCS-EN-SR-LE.jpg

This is extremely expensive for the playable version, like $10, or you can buy the non playable original for like $4.

Review:

This card is the best card ever, in my opinion. With so much power, and insane strength, it tops everything. It is a lot like Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder, and The Wicked Avatar. It’s attack depends on the summoning condition, because it’s attack is the combined attack of the monsters tributed to summon this monster, and it’s defense, is, well, their combined defense. For instance, if I tributed 3 2000 attack and 1500 defense, Ra, would have 6000 attack and 4500 defense! To summon, like I already said, like every other god, you tribute 3 monsters, or you can special summon it, but if you do, than it goes to the grave at the end of the turn. But, the ability is so worth it, because it is unbeatable. First off, it has total immunity, because spells, magic, traps, and monster effects can’t hurt Ra! And then if you need a little extra attack, you can pay life points so that Ra gains them in attack! That means you could pay 7000 life points (in an 8000 life point duel) and Ra would gain 7000 attack! And to top the whole thing off, you can pay 1000 life points to annihilate everything on the field! There are no real weaknesses for Ra, and it can completely end everything in a fiery inferno. It is pretty much unstoppable.

What it reads:

Just so you know, this is what the card says:

Cannot be Special Summoned. You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card (you cannot Set this card). The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated. When this card is Normal Summoned, Spells, Traps, and the effects of other cards cannot be activated. When this card is Normal Summoned: You can pay Life Points so that you only have 100 left; this card gains ATK and DEF equal to the amount of Life Points paid. You can pay 1000 Life Points to target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.

Where to look:

Try eBay, dor possibly a card collector shop.

My Rating (out of 5*’s)

Star.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svg

Because to me, this is the most powerful card in Yu-Gi-Oh ever, PERIOD. It can annihilate the field, gain life points like crazy, and negate all spells, magic, traps, and monster effects. 5* worthy.

Obelisk the Tormentor: Reviews and where to look

March 13, 2012 3 comments

3.13.12 Card Review. Please like always, look at the new contest and announcements. Also, there is no EPIC MATCHUP this month because of a few problems. Enjoy!

Obelisk is a unbelievable powerhouse, and one of the most brute and destructive cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! It’s one of the greatest good cards ever, so today I’m going to review Obelisk the Tormentor.

Look:

ObelisktheTormentorGLD4-EN-GUR-LE.png

This version of Obelisk hasn’t actually been released yet, since it’s set for release in may, so don’t buy the old version, since it can’t be used in a duel.

Review:

This is one of the most brute and powerful cards ever, period. It annihilates everything, and is a lot like Raviel, Lord of Phantasms, and The Wicked Dreadroot, But on to the review. This is insanely strong, with 4000 attack and 4000 defense, making it the most powerful straight attack card in Yu-Gi-Oh. But summoning is, well, like any other god card, because you have to tribute 3 monsters to bring it to the field, or you can special summon it with a card like monster reborn, but if you do that, it goes back to the grave at the end of the turn, though when you normal summon this card, cards like bottomless trap hole. But then the abilities begin, which make it a insanely awesome card. First off, once you normal summon it, your opponent can’t activate spells, magic, traps, and monster effects. And then it only gets better, because if you tribute 2 monsters, than this card destroys everything on the field, and gains infinite attack for the turn! Obelisk towers over all other cards, and really has no weaknesses. So pretty much, this is one of the three best cards ever.

What it reads:

Just so you know, this is what the card says:

You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card (you cannot Set this card). The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated. When this card is Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. This card cannot be targeted by Spells, Traps, Spell/Trap effects, or Effect Monster effects. If this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. You can Tribute 2 monsters to destroy all monsters your opponentcontrols. This card cannot declare an attack the turn this effect is activated.

Where to look:

Right now the legal version hasn’t been released in the U.S, so you can’t get it yet, and don’t buy the non legal version, just wait.

My Rating (out of 5*’s)

Star.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svg

Because it’s ability is unstoppable, and it’s a solid and powerful card, it deserved 5*’s worthily. It works well in any deck, and torments your opponent.

Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon: Reviews and where to look

3.12.12 Card Review. Please like always, look at the new contest and announcements. Also, there is no EPIC MATCHUP this month because of a few problems. Enjoy!

Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon is a really strong new card, that is in a new archtype of power. So today I decided to review the insanely powerful new card, Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon.

Look:

GalaxyEyesPhotonDragon-PHSW-EN-UR-1E.png

Galaxy Eyes can be around $5, online, or in a $20 tin.

Review:

This card may just be one of the best dragon cards in the entire game of Yu-Gi-Oh, and it is totally worthy of any deck. It’s not like anything I’ve ever seen before, because of it’s odd ability. With 3000 attack, and 2500 defense, it’s a lot like all other cards in this range of power. Summoning however, is kind of odd, because you have to tribute 2 monsters with 2000 or more attack, which can be a pain to summon this. But it’s effect makes it worthwhile, because of it’s power. You see, during each players battle step, when this card battles an opponents monster, you can target the monster this card is battling, banish both it and this card , then any card banished by this effect returns to the field at the end of the battle phase. If the banished monster was an XYZ’s monster, this card gains 500 attack for each XYZ’s material monster that was attached to it when it was banished. That means that this gets extra bonuses for XZ’s material monsters. Use it’s ability when your battling something to strong, so that you can survive. Also, make sure you have something to save this card from spells and traps. This card makes my eyes water when I see it.

What it reads:

Just so you know, this is what the card says:

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by Tributing 2monsters with 2000 or more ATK. During either player’s Battle Step, when this card battles an opponent’s monster: You can target the monster this card is battling; banish both it and this card, then any monster banished by this effect returns to the field at the end of theBattle Phase. If the monster banished by this effect was an Xyz Monster, this card gains 500 ATK for each Xyz Material the Xyz Monster had when it was banished.

Where to look:

Try eBay, Amazon, BBToys, or possibly a card collector shop.

My Rating (out of 5*’s)

Star.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svg

Because it’s ability isn’t that great, and can easily be topped, it lost a star, but if you run a dragon deck or a photon deck, you need this card.

The Wicked Avatar: Reviews and where to look

March 11, 2012 1 comment

3.11.12 Card Review. Today is an EPIC MATHUP DAY! Head over there this afternoon for the awesome matchup. Please also lik always, look at the new contest and announcements. Enjoy!

The Wicked Avatar is one of the most overpowering monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! It can literally be better than everything else. SO today were going to review the best wicked god, The Wicked Avatar.

Look:

TheWickedAvatarCT07-EN-SR-LE.jpg

The Wicked Avatar can be very expensive, like $20 expensive.

Review:

This is a card that is a nightmare to your opponents if summoned, because it always overpowers! With unbelievable strength, this is a lot like the Winged Dragon of Ra, because of it’s photo and ability. It may look weak with only 0 attack and 0 defense, but as you know, don’t judge it by its cover. But summoning is like every god, and it’s pretty tough, because you have to sacrifice 3 monsters. But it’s ability is one of the best abilities ever, no joke. You see, first off, your opponent can’t activate spells of traps until the end of the second turn after this card was summoned. And then comes the amazing attack of this card, which makes this card broken. You see, the attack and defense of this card are each 100 points higher than the highest monsters attack on the field. But the problem is, sometimes defense can be higher than the highest attack, which is why you should always have a card with extra attack on the field. Also, make sure you have dark type protecting cards, so that it can’t be annihilated after it’s effect stopping ability runs out. But this s otherwise, a near invincible card, pretty “Wicked,” huh (pun intended).

What it reads:

Just so you know, this is what the card says:

This card cannot be Special Summoned. This card cannot beNormal Summoned or Set except by Tributing 3 monsters. Your opponent cannot activate Spell or Trap Cards until the end of their 2nd turn after this card is Normal Summoned. The ATK and DEF of this card are each 100 points higher than the highest face-upmonster’s ATK on the field (except “The Wicked Avatar”).

Where to look:

Try eBay, Amazon, BBToys, or possibly a card collector shop.

My Rating (out of 5*’s)

Star.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svg

Because it can really annihilate everything with it, and with a few tweaks, it always overpowers, I gave The Wicked Avatar 5 stars, because it’s worthy.

The Attribute Reptiles (Firestorm Prominence, Raging Earth, Destruction Cyclone, Silent Abyss, and Umbral Soul) Reviews and where to look

March 10, 2012 2 comments

3.10.12 Card Review. Today is an EPIC MATCHUP day! Please also look at the announcements, and make sure to keep looking at contests, but also look at the new matchup.

At first look these reptiles seem like sorry excuses for level seven monster, but what they lack in strength they make up for with their effect. So lets take a look at the Elemental Reptiles!

Look:

They aren’t sold together but they each cost 1-2$ on eBay so it shouldn’t be to hard to get them.

Review:

The reason I did all of these cards together is because they are all very similar. By this I do not and I mean do not mean that a turtle and an alligator are the same thing. These cards seem pretty weak at first. I mean 2000 ATK isn’t to high for a level 7 monster. But what they lack in strength the make up for in their ability. Their ability is if you destroy them they destroy all of your opponents monsters that aren’t it’s attribute. All in all, a perfect example of a don’t judge a book by it’s cover card.

What it reads:

“When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard destroy all face-down and non (attribute of the card) monsters”

Where to look:

It would suggest to look on eBay you can get it for around 1-2$.

My Rating (out of 5*’s)

Star.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svg

I gave it four stars because it has a great ability but since it has a low ATK it lost a star.

Gravity Bind: Reviews and where to look

March 9, 2012 2 comments

3.8.12 Card Review. Today is an EPIC MATHUP DAY! Head over there this afternoon for the awesome matchup. Please also lik always, look at the new contest and announcements. Enjoy!

Gravity Bind is one of the most insanely powerful limit traps, and it’s nearly unbeatable in certain situations. So today I’m going to review Gravity Bind.

Look:

GravityBindRP02-EN-C-UE.jpg

Gravity Bind is about $6 online, and I got it through once again, a random grab bag.

Review:

This is one of the worst trap cards in bad scenarios, but if it helps your deck, you can completely conquer your opponents. It is a very different card, because it is a nightmare for most. It is a trap card, so there is no attack and defense to discuss. There’s also no summoning conditions, because it’s a trap, not a monster. And if you have the right deck, your opponent can’t even make a move! Because when this continuous trap is activated, level 4 or higher monsters can’t attack! That means if you have a low level deck, than you can finish your opponent! The problem is, if you run a deck that depends on high level monsters, your only punishing yourself, so you need a deck thats fits. Also, since it’s continuous, you really need to be ready to give up all monsters level 4 and higher. But if you have the right deck, this crushes.

What it reads:

Just so you know, this is what the card says:

Level 4 or higher monsters cannot attack.

Where to look:

Try eBay, Amazon, BBToys, or possibly a card collector shop.

My Rating (out of 5*’s)

Star.svgStar.svg

Because it can really only hurt you too, and you need a very certain deck, to run this card, and that’s why I think it lost 3 stars, but it’s a very powerful card if you use it right.

Rocket Warrior: Reviews and where to look

3.8.12 Card Review. Today is an EPIC MATHUP DAY! Head over there this afternoon for the awesome matchup. Please also lik always, look at the new contest and announcements. Enjoy!

Rocket Warrior was one of Joeys key cards, and was a force of pure destruction. Although it may not have much attack, it’s pretty great, so today I decided to review an old card, Rocket Warrior

Look:

RocketWarriorCT2-EN-ScR-LE.png

Rocket Warrior was a card I got in a grab bag a few days ago, and online it’s about $15, because of it’s age.

Review:

This is one of my favorite cards ever, because of it’s superpowered effect, and low attack. This is one of my pure favorite cards also, because it shows attack doesn’t matter all the time, but on to the review. Rocket Warrior has 1500 attack, and 1300 defense, so it’s not a superstrong card, but is still a total weapon. It’s summoning is simply playing, because it is a level 4 with no specific summoning conditions. And it’s ability only adds to the awesomeness. During your turns battle phase, this effect is active, and battle damage to this card and it’s controller that take battle damage from a battle involving this cards damage becomes 0, and after damage calculation, you can decrease the attack of the monster that was attacked by this card by 500 points until the end of the turn! And combining this with cards like The Wicked Dreadroot that halve monsters attacks, because it can swoop in and lower them for others to destroy! This card is a great card in any deck, and is a force of power. This shows that attack isn’t always what matters, and that’s why this is an epic card.

What it reads:

Just so you know, this is what the card says:

This effect is only active during the Battle Phase of your turn. Battle Damage to this card and this card’s controller that they take from a battle involving this card becomes 0. After damage calculation, decrease the ATK of the monster that was attacked by this card by 500 points until the end of this turn.

Where to look:

Try eBay, or possibly a card collector shop, because this is pretty rare.

My Rating (out of 5*’s)

Star.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svg

Because it has great moral, even though it’s weird, and lots of power in it’s effect, I’m giving it 5*’s.

Luster Dragon: Reviews and where to look

3.7.12 Card Review. Today is an EPIC MATHUP DAY! Head over there this afternoon for the awesome matchup. Please also lik always, look at the new contest and announcements. Enjoy!

Luster Dragon may not exactly be a super strong card, but it is very classic. So I decided to review this original series collectors card, Luster Dragon.

Look:

I got this in a 50 card grab bag, and it is about $10 online.

Review:

This is a real classic Yu-Gi-Oh Card, and one of my favorite cards ever. This is because I got it in my first Yu-Gi-Oh Pack, a grab bag at my local collectors shop. It is an extremely cool card, but lets get to the review. With 2400 attack and 1400 defense, it isn’t a giant, but is still a very good card. It is level six, so you need to tribute 1 monster, but that isn’t a very hard thing, considering all the accel synchro’s and double tuners. But with no effect, and only a description, it puts this at a huge disadvantage. But because of it’s collector status, it’s a fun card. It has no real tips except to put it in a dragon deck, as it may have some use there, and may even gain an ability.

What it reads:

Just so you know, this is what the card says:

This dragon feeds on emerald. Enchanted by this monster even when attacked, few people live to tell of its beauty.

Where to look:

Try eBay, Amazon, BBToys, or possibly a card collector shop.

My Rating (out of 5*’s)

Star.svgStar.svgStar.svg

Because It has no ability, and isn’t a giant classic like blue-eyes white dragon or dark magician, it lost two stars, but if you run a dragon deck or love collector cards, this is for you.

Cyber Valley: Reviews and where to look

March 6, 2012 1 comment

3.6.12 Card Review. Today is an EPIC MATHUP DAY! Head over there this afternoon for the awesome matchup. Please also like always, look at the new contest and announcements. Enjoy!

Cyber Valley is one of the most necessary cards for a Cyber Deck, like mine. It is a epic card, which acts sorta like a field spell, and lets take a look at Cyber Valley!

Look:

CyberValleyLCGX-EN-UR-1E.jpg

Cyber Valley is a very rare card, which I also purchased a local card collectors shop yesterday for $9.

Review:

Cyber Valley is like a necrovalley for a gravekeeper deck, and really is like a grounder for a Cyber Deck. It reminds me a lot of a field spell, because it is more effect than attack or anything. It’s summoning is very simple since it’s a level one monster, because you simply play it. And it’s three abilities are great for a cyber deck. Here’s what they are:

  • If this card is selected as an attack target by an opponents monster, you can remove this card from play to draw one card and end the battle phase.
  • You can remove from play this card and one of your face up monsters to draw 2 cards.
  • You can remove this card and one card in your hand from play, and you can place one card in your graveyard on top of your deck!

These abilities make this a killer card, and great in a cyber deck. Also, this is a great card for later in the duel, because it can bring back something in your grave.

What it reads:

Just so you know, this is what the card says:

You can use 1 of these effects.
● When this card is targeted for an attack by an opponent’smonster: You can banish this card; draw 1 card, then end the Battle Phase.
● You can target 1 face-up monster you control and this card; banish both that target and this card, then draw 2 cards.
● You can target 1 card in your Graveyard; banish this card and 1 card from your hand, then place that target on top of the Deck.

Where to look:

Try eBay, Amazon, or possibly a card collector shop.

My Rating (out of 5*’s)

Star.svgStar.svgStar.svg

Because It has no attack, and might be wasted before you can get a card from your grave back in your hand, it lost two stars. But if you have a cyber deck, you NEED this card.

The Wicked Dreadroot: Reviews and where to look

March 6, 2012 3 comments

3.5.12 Card Review. Today is an EPIC MATHUP DAY! Head over there this afternoon for the awesome matchup. Please also lik always, look at the new contest and announcements. Enjoy!

The Wicked Dreadroot is just a mass of power, which knocks down all opponents. It’s one of the best god cards in Yu-Gi-Oh, so today it’s getting reviewed. So lets take a look at one of the most powerful fiends in the game, The Wicked Dreadroot

Look:

TheWickedDreadrootCT07-EN-SR-LE.jpg

The Wicked Dreadroot is Semi-rare, and I just bought it today from my local collector shop for $4.

Review:

This is one of the most powerful cards ever, case closed. It’s a lot like Obelisk the tormentor, down to the art, but it’s not as strong, but still really strong. With 4000 attack and 4000 defense, this can take on just about anything, because of it’s power. But summoning is tough, because you have to tribute 3 monsters, not just two, like any other god. But the ability so pays off for it. OK, so you know this is strong with 4000 attack, but it gets even better, because all monsters on the field except this card have halved attacks! That means if this battled a 3000 attack monster, it’s attack would be 1500! This card is lethal in a swarming deck, because it can get summoned quick, but it will halve all of your other monsters attacks. Also, it is really nice to get a few low levels to summon this, since attacks don’t matter with it. The best thing with this is facing a burn or stall deck, because it will demolish it’s few weak monsters.

What it reads:

Just so you know, this is what the card says:

This card cannot be Special Summoned. This card cannot beNormal Summoned or Set except by Tributing 3 monsters. Halve the ATK and DEF of all monsters on the field, except this card.

Where to look:

Try eBay, Amazon, BBToys, or possibly a card collector shop.

My Rating (out of 5*’s)

Star.svgStar.svgStar.svgStar.svg

Because of it’s tough summoning, and something this strong without any immunities to effects, it lost a star, but it’s still AMAZING.
